Neighbors,
The second community meeting about the zoning change request for 1109 and 1111 Montrose Ave. will be at 6pm on Tuesday, September 20th at the Midtown Hills Police Precinct. The property owners will be there to discuss their proposed plan with the community and get their feedback. Council member Colby Sledge will also be in attendance to hear your concerns. There’s been a lot of talk in the neighborhood about the request – this is the venue to be heard. Please attend.
The property owners are requesting a zoning change to a SP (Specific Plan) that will allow the 2 houses to be used as commercial office space and the backyards of the property to be used for 15 parking spots. The SP requires that the houses remain on the properties and be used for commercial office purposes – they cannot be demolished or used for retail or as a restaurant. The driveways from the front of the houses will be removed, and landscaping & barrier walls will be used to hide the parking behind the houses. The houses are not part of the overlay that took effect in January of this year.
I’ve attached the most recent proposal, which includes notes on updated made based on neighbor feedback.
This proposal is scheduled to go before Metro Planning Commission on Thursday, Sept 22nd. If you want to voice your opinion in favor or against, or have changes you’d like to request to, this is the time.
