12SNA Presents: 12South Concert Series
It’s time for the annual 12South Neighborhood Association’s 12th South Concert Series! All concerts are held in Sevier Park from 6-9 and are free of charge. Our gracious sponsors this year are Edley’s, Burger Up, The Filling Station and Josephine on 12.
Please bring your families, friends, dogs, picnic baskets and folding chairs to celebrate our neighborhood and enjoy great music. The Concert Series is funded solely by the sponsors listed so make sure you thank them with your business.
August 23rd Lineup:
6 pm: The Reneaus. The Reneaus are a combination of rock, country, psychedelic, pop, blues, and jazz. Ashley Winn’s vocals are “smooth as silk, with jazzy inflections coupled with piano/ Hammond B-3 organ/Wurlitzer, viola/banjo/and other strings.”
7 pm: Tracy Silverman. Lauded by the BBC as “the greatest living exponent of the electric violin,” Tracy Silverman breaks new ground and defies musical boundaries on a self-designed, six-string instrument. Silverman has been the subject of two majororchestral commissions, both composed specifically for his playing, including “The Palmian Chord Ryddle,” which he premiered with the Nashville Symphony in Carnegie Hall. Formerly first violinist with the innovative Turtle Island String Quartet, Silverman was also named one of 100 distinguished alumni by The Juilliard School
8 pm: Brother Henry. Fronted by twins David and Ned, Brother Henry has been called “A Southern Crowded House with a Cello.” The genetics of the band allow for a vocal blend that listeners often compare to The Everly Brothers. As touring and recording sidemen, they have contributed to artists such as Ben Folds, Indigo Girls, Cowboy Junkies, Guster, Sixpence None the Richer, Steve Earle and R.E.M
The September 6th lineup will be released shortly. We hope to see you in Sevier Park on Saturday!
